Hi all,
I removed my air intake temp sensor and it was covered in oil? I am guessing this is not Right? Any idea where the oil is coming from? I get some blue smoke on start-up but clears after 30 seconds Thanks all n57 3.0td 2010 |

Is that the one in the tube by the intake your right side of the engine looking at it. its like a little black glass drop surrounded by a tiny yellow plastic cage?

I think so yes. It plugs into a black plastic pipe on the right hand side of the engine. Has 1 cable going to it. Covered in oil. Looking around it seems s must of oil is fine but mine looks more than this?

Same here. mine was gunky; Cleaned it with contact spray and it made zero difference. The car did however notice it had been unplugged and pinged a notice on the report.

Have you had the cars full sofware updated? This includes resetting all the values.I'm starting to think that any DIY problem solving on these complicated engines is pretty much non starter...

If it's anything like a petrol you probably have some re-circulation system going on. Oil from the crank case going back into the inlet.
That's why we fit oil catch cans on the petrol models.
