No Audio - Help Needed [Used Search Tool]
Hello ,
All sound went out for my car yesterday, looking for some help over here. I've used the search button and came across multiple threads without any real answer Looking for further insight into this situation! Many thanks in advance for all the help. Love this community! Here's what happened: -Car was not driven for a month -Put key in ignition, started car -Noticed that there wasn't the typical chime with key insert -Looked to see that the mute button wasn't on -Turned audio up, not a single sound from any speaker -Tried to activate voice command -> does not prompt anything in iDrive, nor make a sound (CCC Head Unit) (Usually if you press voice command, there'll be a little voice icon in the iDrive) Here's what I've tried: -Drive the car and unbuckle seatbelt >80 kmph (Apparently this was supposed to reset sensors) -> no chime/sound -Reset the system (both eject buttons, power knob) -> idrive reset, but no sound -Pluged in cables to run INPA to check codes -> no codes were displayed; went ahead to clear anyways -> no sound -Ejected Navigaiton CD and put it back in -> no sound -Checked all fuse to ensure everything's working (no blown fuses) -> no sound still -Disconnected battery waited 20 minutes and reconnected -> :/ was hopeful but no sound -Drove the car for 2+ hours, left it overnight (8+ hours) and woke up -> no fix What still works: -Radio seems to be working fine, I can scorll through stations and switch between am/fm/aux -Navigation works fine, idrive functions have no problems What doesn't work: -Voice command -Sound from any speaker Further detail into my sound system: -CCC nav professional -has voice command -no bluetooth, but has communications menu -no sat nav -Logic7 10 speaker sound system (option 677) -here's what my center console unit looks like: http://www.hitechserv.com/images/BMW/bmw-335.jpg Last edited by sheepwhale; 07-19-2017 at 09:51 AM.. |

Its probably your amp/logic7 module. Look in the trunk, on the opposite side of the battery, there'll be a fluted aluminum module about 10"x 4"x 2". My guess is that it will be wet, that's how mine died, it was due to a bad trunk seal that let water in the trunk.
I paid a guy to replace the capacitors that blew up, and when I re-installed, it didn't work, so I tossed the amp...I didn't know about coding back then, the fucking thing was probably fine. I ended up paying the dealer to fix it for $1200 |

First always check to see if you have a strong battery as the
IBS system can turn stuff of. Amp is the most likely culprit but other modules such as a TCU , Mulf , combox or satellite module can cause the same thing. These modules vary by year so you should always mention the year of the car when you ask these questions. You can bypass those with a most jumper one at a time to see if the sound comes back. |

Trying to figure out if unplugging fuses will work, apparently on the M5 the fix was to pull fuse 7/41 (radio fuses) Anybody know what the radio/amp/ccc unit symbol looks like on the fuse map? here's what the symbols look like: |

The amp is a separate fuse. If you have bluetooth phone or SOS you will have a TCU or Mulf . |

Thank you for this! I'll look into the amp fuse; unfrotunately my car doesn't have bluetooth or SOS -> just voice command (pre 2007) |

Well what can you do with that most of the point of voice command
it to control the telephone that is paired by bluetooth. If you have bluetooth phone you at least have a TCU which is also the voice command module. |
