New to BMW
Hi all. I just purchased my first Bimmer.
I bought a Jet black/black E91 w/cold, premium, sport packages, xenon's and sunshades. I had a couple of VW Bugs, a Rabbit and two Chevy's, in the distant past. More recently I had two Accords, a '93 Legend (that I loved) and a RL (not so much love there). My wifes '04 black Accord V6 coupe has nice acceleration and of course zero problems. My friends who had BMW's in the past always warned me against repair costs, calling them expensive mistresses. But when I saw the E91, I just said f**k it and went after it. I can't tell you how happy I am about this car, it is just great! I plan to keep this car for 6 years or longer and had a couple of questions that you may be able to help me with. 1) I notice that there is no break in oil changes at say 2000 miles or so. I read Mike Millers column in the February Roundel and he suggests a break in service at 1200 miles for the oil, gearbox and differential. He said when he changed his it was full of metal. Hondas usually do the break in at 2000 miles. Has anyone done this? 2) Has anyone picked up the extra $1200 service extension for two years extra and 100,000 mile? Any cost break? How about the extended warranty? Anyway thanks in advance for any help. |

I'm pretty new to BMW too, my previous car was an E36 316i Coupe Euro spec. Pics below... I loved this car so much, I decided to buy the E90 to replace it.
