N54 or N55 Xi

Hi guys,
So I was rear ended and my car is totaled. My car was a 2008 335xi. It happened after I had just replaced my suspension, valve cover gasket, spark plugs and 6 new ignition coil, new tires, breaks, rear wheel bearing, and new transfer-case. I didn't do all the work at once. In a period of 1.5 years but more than half almost done at once.

The insurance company called and left a voicemail that I should call the total lost department. My first question is

1) How do I get my money back from all the work I just done to my car. Or is there anything that I can do if any?

2) I was lucky that BMW USA replaced 3 of my injectors about 3 years ago for free. I know the N54 have the injector, high fuel pressure and turbo problems, is the N55 any better? Should I buy a different N54 or N55? Are the N55 less of a headache?

1) Show the insurance co the receipts for the work. Insist on reimbursement for the work done that enhanced the value of the car.

2) N55 is newer, never had HPFP problems, has single turbo. Not saying it's bulletproof, but most people say it's more trouble free.

Thanks,
Currently fighting with them. And of course they gave me a shitty value for the car.
