335i saloon - buying advice

Hi - i was hoping to get some buying advice on the 335i. I am looking at a manual model and have been doing alot of reading up re hpfp problems and wastegate rattle. This particular car has had a new fuel pump replacement from bmw in the last 6 months. Will this remove the wastegate / turbo issues?? Any advice on this and any other issues would be welcomed!

My advise would be depending on the year of the car get the extended warranty as this would all be covered if any issues occur. changing fuel pump wont secure the waste gates. Also make sure the injectors are the new revision injectors on the 335i as they also are known for issues.

Thanks for reply - its a 2007 msport saloon. I had a quick look at extended warranties. Car has 57k on clock. Any recommended companies or through bmw? Are turbos covered on a standard policy do you know?

BMW insured warranty is backed by Allianz and is excellent. The only complaint I've got with it is they require warranty work to be done in BMW dealers who then try to squirm and avoid following BMW repair instructions. That's my experience anyway.

Garage List

Oil leaks seem pretty common too.... mainly the Oil filter housing gasket and Valve ( Rocker ) cover... coolant leaks not so much but a few i've seen with a leak from radiator due to BMW using plastic ends.
Wastegate is easy to diagnose.. start the engine from cold and listen out for the rattle.... I think it lasts about 20 seconds.
BMW warranty you can get a quote by visiting BMW website.. be aware though I think the car needs a full BMW approved service history

Go straight to BMW extended warranty covers every single part of the engine apart from injectors its a bit juicy on price but it is well worth it.

My advice would be to get the BMW warranty. It's saved me £2,500 roughly since I bought mine a few months back, didn't have full BMW history either!

As above, I have BMW warranty's with both cars and they have well and truly paid for them selves this year alone, never had any problems claiming apart from when a BMW engineer tried to tell me that the suspension parts required was not BMW on my F11, I put him right,,, told him to check the part numbers....... Needless to say it was repaired...
