if alarm install is $595, shpuld the labor portion be taxed?

Or should it be broken down more like:

Alarm= $300 (sales tax applied)
Labor= $295 (non taxable)

Some Salesman is trying to lump the entire cost as taxable.

Well he did give me a pending offer for $750 over invoice (Maco/training inlcuded) plus free mats so I'm trying to be reasonable at 500, since he initially quoted me at $795! The Bastard!
But I think if I break it down like how I wanted he'll have to reveal the actual price of the alarm unit itself aside from the labor which will show how riduculous $595 still is....

Anyone know the actual invoice price for the alarm minus install?
