Exclamation Attention: CPO Warranty not transferable anymore!

Fellow 335d owners, I recently purchased a CPO 550i xDrive from a neighbor. CPO till end of September, and also has the maintenance plan till end of September.

However, just found out from BMW they recently changed their CPO guidelines to be more "competitive" in the market place with CarMax, etc.

If anyone, other than BMW dealer, is selling a CPO car, the CPO warranty is void.

Also, the Maintenance Plan does not transfer over if the car was purchased after a certain date.

Please verify this before you purchase!
This sucks for some BMW owners who want to sell their CPO car on their own for many various reasons.

New process: http://cpo.bmwusa.com/Content/docs/B...pplication.pdf

For sure. Sucks for the dealers that were selling them as well.

Might be worth while for the seller to ask for a pro-rated refund on the CPO. But yes I've seen that for several years now.

Three months ago I bought a 2012 335i at the Volvo dealer. It's CPO until Feb-2018 and I had no trouble to transfer the CPO warranty to myself. Have you contacted BMW NA about it ? I completed the request on the phone in less than 2 min.

False. Both my gf and i both bought cpo cars this year. Not cpo, but platinum extended warranty. They are transferrable for a $50 fee. You must contact bmw na about this, they will then forward you to assurant, based in florida, to finish everything. You must complete the warranty transfer within 30 days of the sale date. This includes getting the previous owner to send signed authorization to them.

Um, the conversation is about CPO not third party warranties. There is a difference.
