Retrofitting iDrive into non-iDrive car.
Hi All,
As the title suggests, I'm wondering about the possibility/practicality of retro fitting iDrive into my non-iDrive e92 330i. I imagine that the hassle and cost would probably render the idea just simply stupid but would like to know anyway. I'm also sure that most answers will be along the lines of "just sell your car and buy another with iDrive" but I'm really happy with the car and in every other respect have got it looking and driving just how I want. I've searched and found some posts from the past that suggest it can be done but the links to more resources and info seem to be outdated. A drive in/drive out service that could supply and install everything would be perfect. I suppose an alternative would be an aftermarket head unit replacement that includes navigation and that would integrate with the OEM controls etc but have no idea which brands are any good. I realise that any solution is not going to be cheap and am willing to spend a "reasonably large" amount... Any thoughts or pointers much appreciated. Cheers.... |

I think Simon at KYCS offers this service....not sure if they can supply the parts or not though. Have a search on Facebook for them. Last I heard it was around £1000 all in but don't quote me in that part.
I'm using the dynavin n6 headunit which has Bluetooth and nav etc and from what I've read ties in with the canbus system. It's not perfect but is a good bit of kit. I had 1 issue where the hard buttons didn't work properly bit sent it back and they changed the entire motherboard and front control panel without question and supplied back to me. |
Appreciate
