JL XD600/6 w/ Technic harness causing additional battery drain?
Hi there.
I've been running the JL XD600/6 AMP via the Technic harness for about one year. Powering a Jehnert speaker kit. Over the past year I have noticed that my car will quickly run low enough on battery that it can't start after leaving a door open for just a few minutes. I ask about the AMP because I had the battery (Interstate, non AGM - installed last year) replaced under warranty (and registered) and the shop mentioned that the aftermarket amp may be causing the issue. I know the amp turns off once the car goes to sleep. Any other advice here? I'm not convinced their opinion is accurate and wanted to pose the question here. Thank you. |

The relay that's part of the harness shuts the amp off when
the car goes to sleep. Is your car going to sleep? I have the same setup no problems it's been maybe 5 years. Since I have a wagon I could close all the doors and leave the amp exposed and watch the green power led go out on it about a minute after I locked the car. |

It is going to sleep and I can even leave the trunk open and monitor the green light on the amp and see it shutting off. Granted it's not off the moment the car power is off, but its off pretty soon after. I'm leaning towards just a coincidence with a bad battery. The harness is fantastic for install.

I also have a Interstate Megatron 49/H8 and have been having no
problems with it. I do put the car on a Battery Tender about once a month overnight due to low use. |
