I bought a cable off eBay and tried for ages to get it working - managed to get it working to read fault codes but it is very unstable (keeps crashing) and couldn't connect up to allow me to code various things - nightmare so I gave up in the end.

i guess you can use this to diagnose e.g. abs wheel speed sensor failures etc.? i have an intermittant warning.
I think the USB/serial leads work ok on Win7, and I installed the INPA SW on my Win7 work laptop.

But the software clearly states it is designed and tested for Win XP 32bit only.

So it may work or it may not....

I'm sticking to my old XP machine for 'garage' use (with an essential 5m USB extension so the PC can sit on the workbench in stead of balancing on your knee bashing trim etc)

If I get this all working (cheers Makkan ) I'll be selling my BT cable with 2 VINs left on it.....

Its just too cold to go outside and test it!

Try this one....

I have just bought a cable from these guys

http://bmtechnic.co.uk/bmw-diagnostic-cable/

Worked first time for me on windows 7, they have bundled up the software (IPNA, DIS, NCS Expert, TIS, SSS progman, Navcoder, WinKFP) that is free on the internet into an install launch menu. Price is higher than the ebay stuff but it worked 1st time for me, and saved many hours of hacking about.

Bimmergeeks: tremendous support!

New to the BMW scene with a purchase of a 335i coupe with error code for ABS pump. Not knowing how computer intensive these cars are, found myself scrambling through youtube videos trying to install INPA. After purchasing cable and software off eBay, I realized it was not as easy as it seemed.

Step in Bimmergeeks for the rescue! Quick response, less than 5 min after Facebook message, I was contacted. A remote session and 20 minutes later my laptop was up and connected to my vehicle.

Thanks for top notch support!

I used http://www.cable-shack.co.uk/ for a DCAN USB cable & software. Using an old laptop with Windows Vista

Reviews said really good support, not that I needed it, all of the software installed fine and the cable worked fine first time, using INPA and Tools32 mainly.
