Midpipe Exhaust Hanger/Bracket Safe to remove?
Recently had downpipes installed, the mechanic forgot to tighten the midpipe exhaust hanger/bracket and it was rattling really hard at low rpm loads.
After a couple days the the brackets fell off on the road while driving. #7 & #8 Fell off in the link below http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/show...diagId=18_0682 Is it okay to keep it this way and have the aftermarket downpipes hang off the vband clamps at the turbo? Or is the combination of the downpipe + midpip too heavy for this? Spoke to another well known BMW mechanic in the area, he said it should be fine but would like another expert opinion. There's no support hanger for the aftermarket downpipes. If i need to put the hanger/bracket back on, are the rubber groments (#9 in the link) necessary? |

I've seen several cars running without the clamps, it's not the best idea, but you can get around that way until you have time to replace the hangers (which I highly suggest doing). It's putting added stress on all the other mounting points which isn't the greatest idea.
