Now you want someone else, e.g. BMW, to pay for his mistake and your lapse in judgement for letting your friend near the car.[/QUOTE]
Like the dealer won't try to hose a BMW owner to save a buck!!! Might as well get one under his belt in his favour before the dealer rules against...say a transmission warranty claim when the car hits 50001 miles ![]() ![]() |

Thus if the part needing repair is broken by someone or something, and that someone or something is not part of the manufacturing of the car, then BMW will not fix it. BTW, if you drive too fast in the rain and hit the car in front of you, BMW will not repair that damage free of charge either, even though they may have "spare" parts laying about. Does that make sense? If your brakes failed due to a defect caused by BMW, then they will fix your car and the damages. Do you see the difference? If your lunch buddy grabbed the door handle and pulled to open the door and the handle broke, it's possible the handle was made improperly and is thus a defect. BMW will pay to fix that. If, however, your friend pulls the door handle and the door is jammed by, let's say, ice and he keeps pulling and breaks the handle, then that is NOT a defect. The handle is now broken due to misuse. So, in your scenario, was something defective about the car design or manufacture that caused the problem? Or, is there something defective with your friend? If it's the latter than try getting his parents to cover that defect and it's subsequent damage. ![]() T |

So, you subscribe to the "preemptive" strike then? Get them first cause maybe, someday, possible, somehow, it's possible, maybe, somewhat likely, they'll ALL try to get you by denying a REAL warranty claim. ![]() Ethics 101 is, or should be, taught in the home. T |

Definately not covered. Tell the truth, ask nicely if they will give you a break and if they say no, just pay for it. Unfortunately, the lack of integrity demonstrated by some posts on this board is just a reflection of the rest of the world.
