CB Radio Questions and Thoughts
Hey everyone,
I'm planning on installing a CB radio this winter as I had one in my old car and kinda miss it. I realize this is going to be a very unpopular thing to do to such a sports-oriented car, but it will ONLY BE INSTALLED DURING THE WINTER when I'm running my roof rack+basket and don't care about the car's appearance. I'll be doing a dual antenna setup NGP mounted to my roof rack, but am racking (hehe) my brain on how to route the cables into the cabin. This HAS TO BE minimally invasive with preferably NO damage being done to the car's body or headliner. Completely reversible. In essence, no drilling through the roof like I did with my old car. My first thought would be to buy a spare shark fin cover (one that I can mutilate and not care), drill a hole for the wires to pass through, grommet it, and route the wires into one of the pre-made holes for the AM/FM/GPS wiring. The roof and shark fin cover are wrapped anyway so there's no problem there. However, once the cables are through those holes, I have no idea how to get them to the side of the roof where I can route them down the A or B pillars. And I absolutely do not want to mess with removing the headliner. So, I'm hoping anyone else has a method they could suggest for a way to get two cables into the car without damaging anything. Also feel free to make fun of me for even wanting to put a CB radio in a BMW because I probably deserve it. |
