Bottom plastic grilles

I had a Bird strike on my drive home and it went through the bottom lower grille on the front bumper. The part from BMW is £26 which is no bother but they are saying depending on the bumper type and fixings it?s either an unclip then clip in old for New 2/3min job or if it?s not it?s a 2hr bumper off epic. Anything be gave experience with this and are BM telling the truth on this one.

I'd imagine the grille will be pushed in from the back, you might be able to push the old one out and pull it out, then slide the new one in and use the mesh to pull it out and clip it in to place, or might need either the lower undertray removed for more access or the front bumper.

I can't see anything listed on the parts diagram about plastic rivets like the M Sport bumper has, so you might have it easy.

I checked mine last night. Using a screw driver (to lift the clip) and pushing the grill back towards the driver, you can pop it off without removing the bumper.

Cheers for that although mine are a different style to that and the clips are totally fixed from the rear on my bumper. I have had two body shops look at it as well and it?s definitely a bumper off situation. I have it booked in now with Rybrook Warwick next week and they have given me a good discount for being a good customer and being a BMW car club member.

This is what the grille looks like you can see the awkward back fitting clips.

Now at Rybrook Warwick waiting for the new grille to be fitted, its taken a while to get it in as been crazy busy with work. Only problem now is the waiting has me looking at F31's.
