335d Thermostat Replacement
Hi,
My 335d is currently running at 74degrees on a flat run on motorway at 70mph. Uphill I can get it to about 77deg, but it soon drops back to 73-74. I was wanting to replace the EGR stat first as they are only £40 and looks an easy job. Is it worth just replacing this or am I going to end up buying and swapping the main stat as well? Just how bad is the main stat to do? P.s I have a Mondial warranty on the car but not sure how I would broach this with the dealer as it’s a hidden menu to check the coolant temps. Any help/advice would me much appreciated! Thanks |

I had temps like that and afraid to say changing EGR stat didn't cut it. I replaced the main stat.
In terms of difficulty it depends on what tools you already have and if you are happy to DIY. It's not a difficult job, there are guides floating around. |

just done both mine, main stat housing bolts that go into water pump snapped inside,so new water pump also..might as well get both done..got mine done for free as was still under 3 month warranty, although i bought the stats as i wanted 100% original from bmw(cotswold) after market ones fail sooner rather than later..especially the ecoli ones from ecp
