NON-CA. So I've been searching around and I only find options for programming it blank key fob. Now my situation is I removed the old battery solder a new battery. The car turns on and everything just doesn't lock and unlock. With my spare key it does lock and unlock no problem. so I'm figuring I need to reprogram The key sense I removed the battery and installed a new battery on the fog. Any suggestions . Thank you

The thing is I already changed the battery. So I have a new battery in it. Now just wondering if there is a proven way of reprogramming the control .

But does the new battery have a charge .
Its rechargeable if you put the right one in.
Did you measure the voltage ?
Read everything by Mashman in the key article.
I don't think it should require reprogramming, mine sure
doesn't when I change the battery on it but it is a CA Fob.
Mine warns me of a low battery when it gets low.

Mine doesn't show when the battery is low but the fob just stopped working. The car came with two so I just started using the second key. I ordered the VL2020 witch supposed to be the same battery. I was hoping that once I replaced the battery it would start working but I didn't . I figured that once the battery was removed and replaced it might need reprogramming but I wasn't sure if any one else had to do that

The guy at bmwgm5 says on 80 percent of the fobs he repairs
it isn't the battery.

Yea I have read that as well. But the signal was starting to get weaker and weaker in a way that I was able to unlock the car at about 15 feet the 10 feet after at about 5 feet till I wasn't able to anymore. So I'm pretty sure it's the battery but I guess I'm going to have to get it checked.

But to just roll out the idea that the key would need to be reprogrammed, there really ain't any information of doing that right

If you read mashman's response especially entry 13 he lays out all
the technical stuff on the keyfob .(in the first link)
Also Bimmergeeks can program a new Fob . I think they charge 200
but that is not with a cut key for manual operation.
