The parts are there for an upgraded oil cooler, but the oil cooler is definitely not there from the factory- someone ordered it and installed it for sure, perhaps with a PPK stage 2?

Car did not have a tune on it when I got it, no aux radiator or any PPK stickers. Car used to have a JB4 on it. I do have the louvered fender liner and I am pretty sure I looked to see if there was an actual cooler back there, but I can verify tonight. Mine is an early build date and was custom ordered..

That's interesting...maybe it's when they started slapping oil coolers on the early builds due to the limp home mode issues...but no you have an N55!
Oh well...sometimes you just don't look a gift horse in the mouth ![]() |

That is a misconception that would vary by dealership. Technically they could void your CPO for dinan parts. At my dealership, aftermarket parts do not automatically void warranty. I take my car in with the downpipe, chargepipe, and intake still installed. On the other hand, some dealerships will void the warranty for ANY aftermarket parts including dinan, BMS, Cobb, etc.

I bought a non-sport 335i sedan.
I got the BMW oil and water coolers installed with the PPK stage 2. It was a PITA getting it done. I made the dealership confirm they could install the stage 2 ppk despite my car being non-sport, and they said yes. So I dropped it off to have them do that plus the M performance suspension. 2 weeks of driving a loaner later, they call me back saying they can't install the ppk because my car isn't sport and doesn't have the right software or cooler. They ask if I still want the suspension, and I tell them no, I don't want them to do anything. Just give me the car back and I'll bring it to a Dinan dealership. They figured out how to install it after that. Took them another 3 weeks, but they did it. They had to punch a hole in my non sport bumper louvre blank to get air to the cooler, but they did it. ![]()

If I have Dinan installed, and removed the Cobb, will the Dinan software be gone? |

So I guess if I want to keep the Dinan, and be able to alternate between it and some other map, then I need to get a JB4 (or some other "piggyback" tuner). Or, reflash my computer every time with the Cobb. And that's not good since there are a limited number of flashes you can perform, correct? |

Since this thread is very old I would not expect a response. If you have not purchased a tune yet I would say go MHD over the JB4.

It's hard to accept that a factory authorized dealer would install hard/software, only to tell you that it's not under warranty anymore? I saw a turtorial about Diinan and how there cars are powered not for maximum power, but for the most power in its useable power band.
