2nd Blown MB Quart Sub...is it my settings?
So at the recommendation of technic, I ordered:
MB Quart QM200.3 BMW Component Set ALPINE MRV-F300 4-CHANNEL CAR AMPLIFIER Technic Stereo 2/4 harness Installed everything, recoded HU, and set it up. Sounded awesome, very happy. About 2 weeks in my driver's underseat sub fails. Very scratchy and physically moving the cone induces the noise. eBay seller graciously sends me a new one, no questions asked. Took a while to come in and install it. About an hour of listening time, same thing happens. Not particularly loud or heavy on bass at the time. Super frustrating to say the least. Is there anything with my settings that can be to blame? The wiring is fairly simple as well, but is there a chance something I did there caused the concern? Is it possible a bad amp is the cause? Attached is a pic of the amp settings. All the dials are turned from 0 to where they are, so I feel like on the low end of gain. Bass EQ was off. HU bass at mid line. View post on imgur.com |

I've got the same MB Quart QM200.3 speakers but mine are amped by a JL600/6. When I researched this setup, I've always read that the woofers should be considered as mid-bass woofer and cross-over set accordingly: low-passed at 150 or 200Hz and if possible, high-passed at 40Hz (from the manual). It seems by your settings that you are trying to use them as subwoofers by low-passing them at 90Hz. Maybe that's asking for trouble
