Hello, this is my first post, I have just bought a March 2010 E91 330D M sport LCI with the CIC BMW professional sat nav. I also have a F10 5 series with the same CIC version (or what I thought wold be the same) of the sat nav and I have noticed a few differences.

Can any of the below missing features be upgraded / retrofitted?

1. I am in the UK and I can only put in 4 digits of the post code which is pretty useless, the F10 allows all 6 to be put in. Is there a way to restore the ability to enter a full post code (Zip code)?
2. I dont have the central arm rest USB slot / bluetooth streaming, only an aux port.
3. It doesnt have DAB, only FM/AM
4. Can maps be upgraded if you only have glove box USB?
5. The connected services are currently disconnected can it be re-activated?

No replies so far so I have posted an update to what I have discovered so far to help others:

Postcodes - Updating maps should restore this function, not sure when it was introduced but seems to be from 2013 onwards. I have a 2018 map I will add today off ebay via 3 x usb's and a code which should solve this.

central arm rest usb - looks like a combo is needed and a retro fit and some coding to get it to work. Probably a bit too expensive although I haven't seen costs of fitting, only of ebay comboxs

DAB - not sure yet, probably available with the combo retrofit?

Maps - yes they ca be upgraded via glovebox usb

Connected services - My VIN says I dont have connected services on BMW site, not sure if this can be activated if you retrofit the combo yet.

Hi there - I think our cars may have some common features (I've got an August 2010 E93), and I have had some of the same puzzles you have had, and I have managed to find a few answers. Hope this helps you out a tad:

I think later versions of the map data have 6 character search. Mine had the 2010 MOTION maps and had 4 character search, I updated to the 2017-2 maps and it can search now with 6 characters. Result

That's how I upgraded mine, but it was incredibly picky about the brand of USB stick. I think it was the seventh one I tried worked

Mine didn't work when I had the car. Simply because the car was linked to another Connected account. When it was changed to mine, and BMW had been given some money, it worked. My car has the Combox fitted from new, so a health warning on this advice if you don't have one already.
