Too rich on one bank? Smoke but smells like dirtbike exhaust
Having an issue where I think one bank is running too rich, perhaps? Lots of smoke, darker but light depending on the direction looking. Smells like a dirtbike. Lot of water on the ground out tail pipe. Been sitting for a month but have started a few times this year testing.
Had it diag'd and they couldn't figure it out. They didn't drop ********* (??) but did drop exhaust and saw nothing. Checked intercooler, etc and didn't see anything. Really clean they said. Oil catch can was half full. Lost half a quart of oil going there (had just put in a quart). They did say it was cyl 1-3 bank smoking. It smokes at idle less, higher rev more, dissipates quicker. Smells just like a 2 stroke dirt bike. I noticed the AFR Is really off on the banks though when letting off throttle. With bank 1 more richer I believe. It also stays richer if I blip the throttle a few times for a few seconds. Then evens out. New index 12 injectors 2/9/2016. The other day I was getting it to smoke & then pulling the first 3 spark plugs. The first cylinder was consistently smoking. Smoke coming out. No other cylinder. I replaced injector 1 with a index 4 old (but probably leaking, dirty tip) and recoded, same but maybe less it seemed. Unplugged, the injectors testing which I think may just pump fuel, and if so, lots of water/fuel came out the exhaust. Maybe just the bumpy idle. Moved injector 2 to injector 1, index 12 back in injector 2 (originally 1). Now cylinder 1 does not have smoke bellowing out any more. No timing corrections. Seems to rev smooth. Just lots of smoke. That dissipates. And smells like dirt bike exhaust. -- What happened before this started is my EKP started shutting down my car. I replaced it with a v3 module. Coded it. It seemed to drive really well, lots of power. My tires were a little low & summer so were really grippy. After I opened it a few times & came up on the light, after I stopped it started. Idle, more at revving it, briefly stops in between shifts to push out more. -- Below are datazap.me links from newest to oldest/first. https://datazap.me/u/dawhiz/2018-c?log=0&data=4-23 (this is today after swapping injector 2 to 1, 1 to 2) https://datazap.me/u/dawhiz/2018-b?log=0&data=4-23 (MHD stock flash) https://datazap.me/u/dawhiz/2018?log=0&data=4-23 (MHD stock flash) https://datazap.me/u/dawhiz/2018-3?log=0&data=4-23 (MHD stock flash) https://datazap.me/u/dawhiz/2018-3?log=1&data=4-23 (MHD stock flash) https://datazap.me/u/dawhiz/2018-2?log=0&data=4-23 (custom tuned flash - been on for a long time before this started) https://datazap.me/u/dawhiz/2018-1?...ata=4-18-19-23 (custom tuned - above) Thanks |

You left out the most important information, like the condition of the motor itself, how long have you owned it, was it like that when you got it, ( you said you were testing it) cause from sitting the oil can be pooling somewere) miliage, turbo condition.,There is so much in between than to say my car is smoking, what's wrong? If the car was running rich, it will show in a scanner. You could have a pvc issue, oil seals in the turbos, worn rings, have you done a compression check, does it have oem pipes in it, sounds like it dosent, cause your smelling it. We're was the exhaust split that they looked at it, were the index 12 injectors coded, and a far as I'm aware, you can't mix lower index with 12's. I'd look into these issues before anything, I'd it is oil, it could be the valve seals are worn. Depending how bad the oil is, you may have to pull the turbos to look inside the exhaust ports. If the car has been sitting, get the car running correctly, and run it for a few days.
