Items to keep on hand
Hey all I am new to this site but have been lurking on it for quite some time. I just purchased an 09 335i with 87k.
I’ve been reading a lot about typical maintenance spark plugs, coil packs, etc. Do you all have a list of items that you keep on hand? For example spark plugs coil packs oil filter etc.? My thought is instead of waiting to order items and having them shipped to me to have them on hand. Just wanted to know what the general consensus was on a list of replaceable items to keep on hand. Maybe this is overkill? |

Probably a bit overkill. Only thing you would really need in a pinch is a coilpack; As those are really the only things you could just replace 1 with if it went out.
Spark plugs you'd just need over time, consensus is every 25,000 miles. Oil filter and Oil you do routinely so that can be planned ahead for. |

But really, I have in my cabinet: 2 coil packs full set of plugs roll of vacuum line various other stuff most people dont keep. new radiator hoses etc. I find these things onsale sometimes when purchasing other goods and just squirrel them away for a rainy day. Ive probably only ever reached for plugs off the shelf, its just good to have the easy stuff ready when your car misfires the night before raceday.

Yeah, unless the zombie apocalypse hits, just buy everything online or from local dealerships with price-matching. Way too anal stocking up on parts for such a new platform.

Having a spare coil pack, spark plug, or vacuum line hanging around isn't a bad idea. You might think about a spare tire / fix a flat kit too lol

I’ve got run flats
I thought that was great news until I found this forum. It’s got a sport suspension, and I hear regular tires provide a much better driving experience. |

Don't ever, ever put that fix a flat in a tire, the chemicals in that crap will make it impossible for a tech to repair it.,Unless you have a good relationship with your mechanic, most places won't touch it. If your car is running up to par, fluids, belt, and tires, and oil leaks, there are only a few things that would prevent you to drive it home. If you plan on keeping it stock, then a tire is probably your best friend. When you start tuning it, misfires, fuel pumps, and injectors will come into play. Most auto places carries these in case of an emergency.
