Which coolant for D in CANADA?
Hey everyone, im having a hard time finding a coolant, which my car started to ask me for recently! Everyone (I hope) knows that our diesels run "BLUE" coolant in them and that is what im determined to top it up with! Dealer only has ORANGE official BMW coolant, which i don't really want to go with, now at our largest store - CanadianTire there is tons of brands, but just like before OEM (brand) EURO 1 (BMW, Mercedes etc) coolant is goldish/orange colour (YES I DID OPEN IT, as well as few diesel specific cans), and the only coolant that ive found to be blue is OEM (Infiniti, Nissan, Mazda, Mitsubishi)
I have also checked Walmart with no sucess and AutoValue had some kinda mixed stuff that was extremely expensive but i have never heard of (*Brand) Will post pics later Please advise if i should go with orange or blue! Its only coolant on this rack! But i couldnt find onethat id be happy to put in my "D"!( Last edited by tryingtobebest; 01-12-2018 at 11:26 AM.. |

You should be looking for Blue Euro 1. Maybe just the label is gold? Asian Blue is not the same formulation. Have no experience with that brand. I have always used BMW OE as I get a pretty good deal. Pentosin NF (Nitrate Free) is another equivalent I know of. Euro 1 is Low silicate OAT. Nitrate, amine & phosphate (NAP) free.

Many stores have Xerex G-05. BMW (and other EU manufacturers) use low-silicate, low phosphate formulations. IIRC, the specification is "G-41".
