OFHG issue

Hi, I Changed my OFHG ( both the gasket/engine face and cooler to HFHG ) but since I did it 3 months ago I have developed quite a large leak and I've no idea how.
I used Genuine ( unless fake items ) Elring Gaskets from Ebay...
Torqued up to the correct values ( 23 or 26nm if memory serves correctly )...
Thoroughly cleaned all surfaces and got rid of traces of previous gasket...
reused all bolts.
I'm certain I have done this correctly so the only thing I can think is maybe the Elring gaskets were not genuine because I can see oil running down the seam and dripping onto to engine face and belts... which obviously throws oil all over the place.
Has anyone else had in issue like this after doing the OFHG ?
I have tightened up the bolts to try and eliminate this but to no effect, I will have to either buy another set of gaskets and Re-do this but I'm now not sure if to try Elring again or just go to the speakership and pay top whack.

Just to add, the coolant is dropping quite quickly too although I do have a radiator leak so hopefully its just that getting worse

Is it definitely the ofhg? I had mine replaced then a few months later the vcg started leaking had that replaced & now the sump gasket is leaking. If it's not your vcg or sump it may be the thermostat gasket on the top right hand of the ofh.

I can't 100% guarantee that it is the OFHG but I'm 99% sure it is.... like I say, you can see the oil running down and dripping off the bottom bolt ( the awkward one ) when the engine is running and up to temperature and logically thats all that has been touched recently

Do you mean where the oil feed pipes go in the bottom? Did you replace the two O rings that go on the oil feed pipes? If not there's your problem.

I know where you mean and no I didn't replace those...
I did think of those though and plan on replacing them when I tackle the radiator and this.

Could be leaking from the thermostat gasket right above & to the left of your red circle, unfortunately this gasket is not available through bmw & you have to buy the complete housing, from memory its around £140.

I have purchased the upgraded metal part from USA to eliminate that... I'll fit it along with the new radiator and genuine BMW OFHG I think

Do the 3 bolts that hold the oil filter housing need replacing at the same time as the gasket ??

They shouldn't need replacing as I don't think they're aluminium on any of our engines but I could be wrong. The housing shouldn't be done up too tight or you'll squash the gasket too much and prevent it doing its job. With gaskets like this, you tighten until you can feel good resistance, then a quarter turn.
