BMW E90 Sapphire Black Correction detail + Gtechniq Crystal serum light + EXO V3
This bundle of goodies showed up at the door so was time to get started on the paint correction and coatings detail
Went with Gtechniq so the car has had Crystal Serum Light on all paintwork plus wheels and then 2 coats of EXO V3, the only thing that only got 1 coat of EXO was the roof and wheels as i ran out ! Obligatory snow foam photos Car was still beading well with just Fusso Coat Car was then clayed and dried Wheels removed Compounding started, used Rupes Mk2 with Meguires microfibre cutting pads and Megiures 101 Then finished down using Rupes white finishing pad and Meguires 205 Paint was then wiped down with IPA and inspected, all looked great so on with the coatings After applying Crystal Serum light i left the car to sit for around 5 hours then applied 2 coats of EXO V3 back to back Same process with the wheels, front and backs All glass then coated with 2 coats of Gtechniq G5 All rubber trim treated with Gyeon Q2 Trim Coat Polished the exhaust with some good old autosol, find that stuff hard to beat and then decided to coat the with some left over CSL, don't know how that will hold up but figured it was worth a try. Finally complete with wheels back on the car, I didn't take many before photos of the car as i just got stuck in and wanted to get the job completed over the weekend but i have included some photos i took of the paint a few weeks ago when i was trying out different polishing combos and also have attached some photos of how the paint is looking now. Before After Quick water behaviour video

OMG excellent job!!! It looks soooo nice! By the way what jack point are you using? I didn't know there's a place right in the middle of the car that can be used?

Fantastic work love it! I just treated myself to a foam lance and bought my first DA polisher so i'll be having a go claying then machine polishing with just SRP followed by machine polishing with Megs Deep Crystal Carnauba Wax. If the results aren't that great i'll buy some cutting compound for another try at a later date.

Looks outstanding! How many hours did it all take?
I'm going to be doing my spring detail in a few weeks. Going with a coating this year, instead of the sealant and wax route.

Incredible job! I’m going to be the incredibly lazy guy and ask you how much you spent on your materials instead of researching it. Based on those results I would be willing to sacrifice 20 hours to do my paint. Once again amazing job

Hi Mark e90
I'd love to have my MV3's powdercoated the same, that colour looks so close to Ferric grey, what a nice finish! Could you tell me where you had them done, or any info on the coating so I can try my local powdercoaters? |

Car is now actually sold Just went last week !
Quote:
The wheels were done by a company in Hamilton, Glasgow called Wheel Wizards. They didnt have a specific name for it they just had a load of display wheels on the wall to pick from. Most wheel refurb places will have the same

Thanks Mark!
Our local powdercoaters do a grey, but not close to ferric grey. Yours looked spot on! Shame you had to sell! We are up that way quite often my other half is from Lesmahagow so next time we visit family I may get in touch with them - thanks! PS - what's the next car? |
