No Low end boost - 4530 error
Hey Guys,
Having a big issue with my car, no low end power, after 2500 rpm it kicks in like crazy. I have an 09 - 335d with 210k kms on it. I have a tune with EGR/SCR delete and EGR pipe installed. DPF and SCR Cat still in place. Since the kms are so high I decided to refresh the vacuum system after this problem occurred I'm getting code 4530 with limp mode, I replaced the two pressure converters, electric changeover valve and the hoses. I confirmed the turbine control valve works, holds vac and moves when car is turned on and off after 30secs. Also confirmed the compressor bypass valve holds vacuum and moves when applied. I also confirmed the hose going to the wastegate also holds vacuum. I drove the car and wastegate and compressor bypass valve both get vacuum at high rpm once the big turbo is kicked in. My question is how come the small turbo isn't kicking in? Shouldn't I be getting vacuum in the beginning. What component actually activates the small turbo? |

i believe the small turbo is being activated all the time, its about how much air is being bled to bypass it to go to big turbo. when the small turbo is being bypassed in low revs you have a problem. turbine control valve does that and usually i believe pressure converter is the problem. but since you replaced those... could be boost leak between turbos and intake, that would affect whole rpm range but would be probably more noticeable in the low revs i believe. could be maf or map sensor. you can try disconnecting those and running without them to see how the car behaves. id recommend searching for threads made by Yozh about vacuum system and several other threads with similar symptoms. your problems is common enough i think u will find solution. cheers

I disconnected the maf sensor and car went into limp mode right away. i'll try the map sensor as well. Is there anyway to test these sensors, ie check voltage etch to confirm they are infact bad? Anyway to clean them? I want to minimize on more $$$ going out |

there are numerous DIY on cleaning them on youtube but be carefull, the sensors are apparently very sensitive so one can do more harm than help. i did clean both of mine with special maf cleaner and saw no change in behaviour.
testing them is possible but i cant help you much there... |

Reset MAF and Mean Quantity. But wait til you get that O2 fixed. They are interrelated. Please check your back pressure. If you are still running stock DPF, you need to make sure you are regenerating.

My issue turned out to be the turbo control valve, ie the valve on the side of the engine
The rod attached to part number 12 in diagram. It needed an adjustment as it was loose. How does this get adjusted anyway? I thought I was a BMW dealer or something, kept throwing parts at it, turned out no parts needed Last edited by bmw335d; 02-14-2018 at 08:03 PM.. |

It was fixed by JR Auto in Oakville. I'm not sure how the diagnosis was done or how adjustment was done but I do know i'm not gonna waste time trying to fix stuff on my own anymore. Always going to take my car to Robert at JR Auto, he's the man. |
