N55 Vanos Issue

After a few years of being out of the N54/N55 game, I am purchasing a 2011 N55 335 this weekend, and have been reading a bit on the Vanos bolt issue.

I can't seem to find recent posts about it other than a few years old, is this something I should be concerned with?

When typing the VIN on BMW Recall, the only ones that came up are for the airbag, blower motor, and CV Joint.

Any help would be appreciated!

I did the same before buying with my vin. But when i called BMW dealer they told me that the car had a recall for vanos bolt performed. So if the recall has been performed it wont show up on that search list.

This issue is not a reason not to purchase this car.. not many fails as far as i am concerned. Previous car maintenance is more important. As well as water pump failures and how long was the car driven with a bad pump.. overheating ? make sure it doesnt burn oil check the obvious..

I have an n55 and my valve cover is leaking. Do you think it would be worth it calling bmw to se if the recall was done? sounds like they can easily replace the valve cover when doing this.

I know of a few cars outside of the recall VIN range that broke the bolt heads off.

Ended up dropping the sump to fish out the fragments
