Anyone Running Av Fuel?
Hi is anyone running Av fuel (aviation fuel) in there cars? Reside in Canada and do not have access to e85 although I do live where I can buy aviation fuel that is 100 octane that is quite reasonable in price from a small local airport. I am tuned with a Jb4 G5, DCI, 5" stepped intercooler, BMW Performance Exhaust. Still on OE catted down pipes and was concerned about frying those or possibly O2 sensors, I believe the internals of the engine and injectors can handle the increase in octane? Your thoughts and insight please. Thanks

Don't run aviation fuel! That fuel has lead in it which can foul up cats, O2 sensors, etc. The octane rating of aviation fuel is calculated differently, so the fuel is more like 96 octane gasoline.
I'd hate to find out what leaded fuel would do to those injectors and HPFP, that could get terribly expensive. If you can't get e85, consider a meth kit. I strongly suggest tuning conservatively, I'd much rather leave a few HP on the table than toast an engine. |
