The car is a 2010 BMW 325I E90 N52 automatic.

The behavior was very similar in both cases but there are some differences that might be important.

- With both oils I didnīt have the need to refill but the Pentosin went down from full oil level to 3/4 in 6,250 miles and the Castrol went down to the same 3/4 of the level in 5,300 miles.

- The driving experience was the same, I couldnīt tell one from the other.

- The fuel consumption was different, as I told you here in Mexico we mesure in kms so in percentage Castrol gave me 4% more gas efficiency than Pentosin.

With this simple results we might conclude that both oils are very similar but Pentosin might be a little more resistant to high temperatures because it took a little bit longer to burn than Castrol but that comes with a price MPG, so even though it supposed to be a thinner oil it seems to be thicker because of the resistance and the fuel consumption.

There's some people that say that German products are overspec so they can be use safely with minor requirements, maybe this could be the case.

When I started this analysis I thought Pentosin would be my choice but in my case I think Iīll go with Castrol, nevertheless Castrol is much more expensive here in Mexico the Price of fuel here is excessive like 55% more than in the US specialy Premium one, just with the saving of using Castrol I can pay the oil including the filter so itīs free every 7,500 miles and BMW recommends Castrol for their engines so it should be good enough.
Interesting and thanks.
I assume you changed at 7,500 miles?

One thing to note is that Pentosin is nearly a 5W-40 and the Castrol is on the low end of the 40 viscosity break point (12.5cst min).

Well it looks like Pentosin is a quality overspec oil, funny because here in Mexico Pentosin is cheaper than Castrol and people feel that because of that it must be a bad oil or not near to Castrol quality I think its a marketing scam.

And yes I change oil every 7,500 to 10,000 miles.
