Lower grille "racing" mesh

Yes it will be interesting to see how it holds up. The aluminium is definitely not as tough/impact resistant as plastic but I think will survive normal conditions OK.

I'm looking to do this as well. Did you completely remove the mesh grill before you painted? I can see the tabs for the mesh grill now but don't know if I can easily remove, paint, and then re-install without removing the entire front bumper.

How did you prevent paint from getting on the components behind the mesh grill? I want to do this as well without removing entire front bumper.

At this stage I plan to use the existing grill, cut out the mesh and glue the new mesh to the old grille frame from behind. Then hopefully it will mount back onto the car just like the stock one.

3 months on and I've had no issues with road debris apart from the occasional leaf getting stuck in there.
Everything else is fine, the glue has held and there are no scratches.

one word comes to mind...GRILLCRAFT. Reminds me of the late 90s, early 2000s look, with graphics on the side of cars. lol

I'm not a fan of the look either. Nice work, OP, nothing to take away from your effort and workmanship.
