OEM Turbos, RB or VTT or any other?
Looking for OEM or slightly better than oem turbos, who would I pick and why? I really don't want to spend that much money, not sure how you guys mod these cars but they're extremely pricey and I'm at the point I rather sell the car but if I don't I will have to replace the turbos since I'm getting extreme wasteage rattle and the infamous 30FF, so opinions welcomed

Better then OEM. He's the original person that started tinkering with the oem turbos for the N54 10 years ago. He's been making turbos for this car longer than anyone. I just think there is something to be said for that. Once mine go bad, that's the route I'll head down. My original OEM's are at 150k. http://www.rbturbo.com/products/335i/335i If you write him a check or money order vs cc, he might cut you a deal. |

If you're going back and forth between a budget build or selling, then just sell it. If you mod you're going to go down the rabbit hole and will only look back with regret.
If you want to mod on the cheap there are plenty of better options. BMW certainly isn't one of them. |

We build all RB Turbos using Authentic OEM components, which is done in the form of rebuilding quality "used" OEM housings/components into "like new" condition (and upgrade them accordingly).
Keep in mind that although some may market their turbos as "new" or "no core" required, they are actually cheap "new" reproduction Chinese offerings. Do your homework here so that you can see what it is you are getting, but rest assured that 9 out of 9 with "new" offerings are doing just as mentioned. Also understand that the Authentic OEM N54 components, in this case Boysen and MHI, are very high end components that are literally designed to last a lifetime... although yes of course they at some point will require refurbishment. The new ~$3k MSRP cost of these Authentic units is a good indicator of this, as the quality is high and indeed you get what you pay for here. Very large refurbishment companies, such as LKQ, also would settle for no less than using these high quality OE cores for their refurbishment processes. On the other hand these new reproduction units that many are using these days are cheaply mass produced offerings, and in core form are less than 20% the cost of the Authentic units (and there is a large reason for that). Their biggest perks are that they are cheap and widely available and fit perfectly well into the modern "throw-away" society we live in today.
