What site would give you information about ships coming into Manzanillo and thru the PC. My ship Toronto is due tomorrow and is to leave tomorrow to go to Port Huemene. Can someone tell me what the best way to track it.

Do you have aislive? That is the best way, along with the web cams, to follow her through.

According to Boyd's http://www.boydsteamship.com/daily_traffic_report.htm she's due into the PanCanal region tomorrow, like you wrote, and then due to transit the canal system on 3/18.

Manzanillo is in the entry bay to the PanCanal. Does her schedule show her docking at Manzanillo? If so, she will probably dock there tomorrow and then move out into the outer bay tomorrow night and wait her turn to transit the canal. Even though Boyd's shows she transiting on the 18th, she could transit early. These super vessels always start their transiting very early in the morning, generally around 5 a.m. PST. That is not always the case, but most of the time it is. These super vessels take up every inch of the lock space, and so the PanCanal pilots like to watch the ships go through during daylight hours. Specially trained pilots will board the ship prior to her transiting to take Toronto through all 50 miles of the PanCanal. If she starts around 5 a.m. she will exit the canal system on the Pacific side just before dinnertime.

This is the general timing. She will go through Gatun Locks early (Gatun is where you will find the first web camera and it takes about an hour for a ship to go through this lock). If she goes through at 5 a.m., she will reach the second web camera, located at the Centennial Bridge, just after lunchtime. The third camera, the Mira Flores Locks, is just around the corner from the Centennial Bridge, so stay tuned. It will take her about 1-1/2 hours to get through the Mira Flores lock system (and you can watch her on the web camera the whole time). She will move out of view from the cameras late in the afternoon and exit the Canal system. This is only a general idea of timing. Sometimes ships, for whatever reason, stop in Gatun Lake (middle of PanCanal) for a couple hours and that will throw this timing off, but most of the time that is how it falls together.

Here is the link to the web cams. If you really want to watch her go through the whole system, check very early each morning starting on 3/16-3/18. My guess is that she will transit one of the days before 3/18.

Yes she docks there and leaves the same day. After that she has a straight shot to PH with no stops in San Diego getting to Port Hueneme March 24 does that sound about the right time it takes.

This has been a long journery for this car and for those who have cars made in South Africa and are heading toward the west coast it does take awhile so hang in there.

It takes six days, sometimes seven, to get to SoCal from the PanCanal. So, if she is due into PH on 3/24, back off 6-7 days and that is when she should transit the canal. So, the timing is right.
