Wow the key mark won't go away.

Got slightly keyed on my hood, only noticeable if you look at it from an angle. Went to the paint shop tried to buff it out only to fail. Got a quote from them saying its going to be $350 for me to fix that stupid scratch.

would anyone here pay that much to fix a small scratch?
thinking about letting it ride........

get some more estimates

if it is only a slight scratch as you describe then $350 sounds really high. get some more estimates.

if they have to repaint the whole hood .... even if it's just re clear coating the whole hood, it should cost around that price... i repainted my bumper for about that price...

Your car is silver, it's probably hard to notice for anyone but you. But thats definately a reasonable price to repaint, considering that they have to paint the whole hood to blend it in.

they will have to remove the clear coat of the entire hood before they do any paint work.
350 sounds about right
i'd just move on and forget about it

i would just wait. U never know when something else is gonna happen. When the problems build up, maybe 2 or 3 more scratches, then it will be worth it to get the whole thing painted. But since its only one and its small that no one is really gonna notice, id let it slide for a while.

Thats true too, since it's your hood you're going to get rock chips eventually also.
