E91 Brake Caliper Options?
I have a 2010 E91 and am looking at options on brake calipers. It is a daily driver and it's a wagon so I'm okay with the performance of the stock calipers but I really want to paint them to get some color, preferably red. The stock calipers, though, may be . . . too puny for such accenting. So, I am looking at affordable options (i.e., not $$$ big brake kits). The other catch is I would prefer to keep the stock Style 360 16 inch wheels, at least for now, so interested in something that would fit those wheels. So, am I looking for a unicorn?
I see a lot of used E9X M3 calipers for sale on the auction site and I have no problem with refurbishing them myself. Would these need larger wheels? K9Leader |

I did the 335 bigger brake upgrade on my 2011 E91, with slotted rotors, performance brake pads and Stainless steel brake lines. It was a pretty straight forward swap....and so worth it. Picked up the calipers on eBay for great price then just resprayed them black. Braking is waaaaay better! I am running 19inch 5 spoke rims so clearance wasn’t issue. If I remember correctly you need 18in rims or larger to accommodate the bigger calipers. Some others can probably chime in on this.

You need 17s to clear the 335i brakes and some 17-inch wheels will clear the M3 brakes.
Any reason why you want to stick with the 16s, other than having to buy new tires? 17 inch wheels of many styles can be had for ~$250. Just wait till you need tires and do it all at once? |

Hmm, so if I want to do this I will need to look at new wheels. I will need new tires, probably in the fall so a package deal might make some sense. I live near one of the Tire Rack warehouses so I can pick up whatever I order and save shipping costs.
So, 335 OEM calipers would work. What about these from Power Stop, S3334? https://www.carid.com/powerstop/perf...roduct-options Nice that they are powder coated - I have powder coated on my Corvette and love them. |

And rotors - you need the 335i ones, too. I was referring to the package as I thought that's what you meant. I don't *think* you can swap the calipers/rotors of these different sets given the size difference of the rotor.
328i rotors are 312mm 335i rotors are 348mm M3 rotors are 360mm, full floating and pricey - except that there is a non-floating Rockauot option for $40 Or just paint your calipers, or better yet get one of those plastic caliper covers :-) |

M3 brakes don't fit. Mounting tabs spacing is different. |

Did you have to do any coding after installing the 335 brakes? I've read some posts on here saying you need to code. Others say nothing about coding. If you didn't code, have you had any issues?

Nope, no coding needed and no issues. Brakes working great! I highly recommend this upgrade.

I recently had my OEM 335i calipers powder coated silver. A purely cosmetic mod but they looked so funky before and they look much nicer now.

BEFORE: AFTER: I picked up a set of used 335i brake calipers and had those powder coated then swapped them for my old ones to make it easier. FYI if you do this you also need caliper rebuild kits. I also chose to replace the clips and have new ones powder coated as my mechanic said that is a replacement part, but not sure that was necessary. I still have my old calipers, if anyone wants to buy them PM me... Last edited by DrRobert; 04-08-2018 at 12:05 PM.. |

Thats awesome. Just put the same exact calipers on a buddy's E92 M3. I had an extra set sitting around so we put them on. I should have put them on my E91!! Crazy.
