Eibach Swaybar Upgrade
Anyone buy and install the Eibach swaybars for the 335D. I installed the front one and the endlinks are angled ~15 degrees off perpendicular up and down. Eibach was no help in California explaining if that is correct. Any help would be appreciated.

After we spoke on the phone for 40 minutes the other day and to say that ''Eibach was no help'' is comical since we broke it down very clearly for you. We will go over it again on here so you can bookmark it:
You are trying to install a 335i bar on a 335D. The 335i bar is not compatible with the diesel model. Its not just us either. AFE, Cobb, Dinan...they all list bars for the I but NOT D. If you want to keep trying to put a round peg into a square hole then go for it, but please note our warranty voids any parts that were installed incorrectly or on the wrong application. I've included the Pelican link to all the bars for the 335i. Once you review, go back and search sway bars for 335D, you will see that Pelican does not offer a single bar. https://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog...pg7.htm#item26 |

Moving forward,
Our technician you spoke with regarding the angle of the end links explained that it is not uncommon for angles to be slightly different than the factory bar's ends. He has been with the company for over a decade. |

Doesn't changing the angle or location of the mounting holes change the force that is applied to bar? example if the bar is more vertical or the mount is closer to the main bar the stiffer? also going away from the bar or more horizontal the softer, that's why they make different adjustment locations on some sway bars right?
if my statement is true or close to and it is an upgraded bar then it would make since to me if it was not in the same location as stock. Moving the link ends would allow more force to be applied to the bar making it more effective. if my statement is wrong please ignore my load of horse crap ![]() |

Lemme get this straight: Guy buys a company's product. Guy has a question about said product. Guy calls company to get info. Guy still has unanswered questions. Guy reaches out to enthusiast forum for answers. Company rep tracks down guy on forum and registers a new account for the sole purpose of at best, defending his company's helpfulness, or at worst, leaving a condescending post letting everybody know what a fool he is for using their product in a way that voids the warranty. Is that about it? What would be really helpful is to hear WHY the Eibach sway bar(s) for the 335i won't fit the 335d. Because as far as I'm aware, both models share the same parts from the factory. Is there something about the design of the aftermarket part that creates interference with diesel-specific components? |

Thanks for the replies. I have been out of town for a while and now have time to read the replies. I can't believe that Eibach replied to this like PerfectAce mentioned. I have read several posts about people who wanted to swap out their 335i bars with the D, thinking it is larger in diameter and better for handling. There are so many stores on the internet selling this sway bar kit for the 335i and D's. The bar is nearly identical to the factory one but like I mentioned, the end link mounting holes are angled slightly. I am installing BRC coilovers and adjustable end links on the car, which will improve the mounting in my opinion. Does anyone know for sure if the i and D share the same fron and rear suspension components.

The Bars themselves are not the problem....
There is bracing that gets in the way on the D....we had to use both a drop plate, shaved down said drop plate....AND shaved down some bracing to get mine on.... mine was not from eibach though....mine was from UUC.... |

My Eibach bar mounted up front with no problem and there seems to be adequate clearance around all the frontend components. From the picture above you see the the lower link end is mounting to the swaybar pretty straight on. Is it easy to post pictures on here. I will take some photos of my installation to show you what I am talking about. The bar ends are not perfectly up and down but at an angle. This is where I got irritated with Eibach because I wanted an explanation on the forces that an angled end would cause. Thanks for the help guys. Since BMW only built these cars for 3 years in the US (09-11), I really can't see them redesigning the front end, which supports the post from illsic design. Mine does have the Sport option, which shouldn't change the shape any.
