Coilover Install in Boulder, CO
I'm looking at getting a set of KW V1s to replace my stock xDrive suspension, so I called around a bit for some quotes. I called four indy shops in/around Boulder, and three of them gave me quotes between $1100 and $1350 for install, fine tuning, and alignment. The fourth shop just gave me a straight up "No" because coilovers are "a pain in the ass" to install and "a bitch" to get set up.
That seemed crazy, so I checked with the dealer here (Gebhardt). They quoted me $1075 for the same work. Since when is the dealer the cheapest place to have work done? Anyone have any recommendations for shops in the Boulder area, or should I really be expecting to drop $1300 on installation? It seems like other threads here have said a reasonable cost is in the $600 neighborhood, though those threads are all a few years old. If you're wondering, I called Autohaus, Modern Specialists, Bimmerhaus, and German Auto. I've had good experience previously with the first two, and I've heard lots of good things about the third. |
