Exactly my point. All the other features of the M3 supposedly superior to the 335i...suspension, LSD, brakes, tuning, the ///M badge, etc...added up to 1 second over a 2 minute lap when the HP was closer to even.

Which is why I say 100% a lightly-modded 335i is faster. Bring the power up in the 335i, add wheels/tires, suspension, and maybe LSD, the 335i easily wins. Take away some of those mods, maybe even all except flash + tires...and the 335i may win.

They both need a big brake kit.

Serious note...... Every damn M engine has had teething problems in recent memory, the S54, S62 and S85.

Both the S62 and S85 have had VANOs issues. I would expect some teething issues with the new M3 engine. Good thing is that BMW is so scared of a major fault, they will gladly swap out engines in the beginning.
I am seriously considering an M6, Dinan-Flashed of course.

I was wondering the same thing. We already know the GTR will paste a M3 anytime, anywhere.

It does however show 370ish rwhp for the M3. TQ is so low....

I raced one in september on a m5board event, the m3 didnīt have a chance,
i had a big advantage from start (at 50km/h) i pulled app 5-10cl up to 200km/h after that the m3 started to get closer but when we hit 250 Km/h (155 miles) i still had app 5cl.

However, I see that Road and track is saying that the M3 does it 12.5@114.8 so basically 115. So my question is even with a modified 335i with tune, exhaust, dp's, CAI is the stock M3 going to walk it in a street race?

Exactly, most people only know how to drive in a straight line. Which is why while driving my modified 3, i've seen enough M3s on tracks lose to ridiculously inferior cars to know that when two cars are built on the same chassis, with similar power, the quality of the driver will decide who's better in the twisties than the badge on the back.... tires permitting.

Yeah, I remember that event. The guy who owns the M3 is the same person who orgonized the event. Did he release that race videos in the end or is he still embarassed?

They're selling the DVD with all the races.

Can you make a civic faster than a lambo? Sure.

Does that make the civic better than the lambo. Nope.

People who buy the M will buy it because it's an M and they get all that performance directly from the factory instead of half engineered "upgrades" that void warrantys and do not perform like a car straight off the showroom floor.

If you're buying a car strictly for speed get X and add Y to make Z many HP.

That comparo is retarded we aren't even discussing a civic first of all we're talking about a E92 3 series . Like someone else said they share the same chassis and the if the M was driven like it was designed for "on a track" then you'd void your warranty anyway.

after having driven the e92 m3 today down here in sarasota....the car is unbelievably raw.....power delivery is stunning and responsiveness crisp as ever....granted it was a 10 min test drive......compared to the 335i(stock), which i have driven before, the difference between the respective 3'ers is still quite evident....call me a fanboi, call me a badgewhore.....but bmw delivered.....i'm sure that a modded 335i( dp's, tune, cai, etc.) can likely pass it....but hardly the most important factor in buying a car.......at least in my eyes.....if you're looking for performance.....for 70k(sticker on this particular m; surprised to say that there was no markup).....you're looking at a c6 z06....nothing need be said about the c6

WHAT!!!!!!!! You own a E46 M3 (Like your profile states) and you think the new M3 is raw??? To each his own. The car is floaty, weak, and sloppy. BMW has Diluted the M division. The 135i I drove felt much better. Maybe the next gen M3 will be 4,000 LBS Now. The new M3 is a Pig.
