Turbo whine ??

Now that winter is gone and getting my summer tires put back on, i flashed back to my custom wedge tune and Now for some reason between 2500 and 3000 RPM I got a weird noise but I can only describe as the same sound as when you're letting air out of the balloon slowly by pinching a hole… are My turbos going or if anyone else has had this happen please feel free to chime in

I just got new OEM turbos put on and have the exact same noise, right at 3k rpm. I did do the BMS cowl filters/delete so I'm hoping it's just that.

Are you hitting boost? I'm only hitting 11psi in map 2 on my jb4. I'm going to walnut blast this weekend and hopefully get my inspection. After that, I'm going to reflash the MHD BEF and hope that fixes it. My plugs/coils are about halfway through their life - i may replace those for piece of mind.

Probably different wastegate settings or something in the custom tune.

Unless you see smoke, loss of power or trouble boosting the turbo's are probably fine.

Both my 335i's have "turbo whine" for 10's of thousands of miles and it pulls strong, no smoke, ETC.

When the turbo whine gets bad, you'll know. It's really annoying and constantly doing it every rpm every throttle input.

On another note, the high pitched squeel balloon noise is usually a description of a boost leak. Perhaps you may want to snug up your interocoler and charge pipe connections.

I'm going to log a run to see if all is well. It feels fine and pulls really well. But going from stage 1 to custom will do that anyways lol.

I'm going to check the intercooler and charge pipe as my first thought was a boost leak
