? on paint contaminants

I know it probably varies by local environment and amount of miles driven, but after a good clay bar and detail....how long till people usually start noticing small contamination specs on the paint again....especially the rear quarter and trunk area of the car?

You're right, it will vary by environment and miles driven (and where the car is parked). I haven't clayed my car in over a year and its just as smooth as the day I last did.

My silver 06 e90 looks horrible, i clayed last summer but there are so many tiny rust spots- I don't know why it is so bad- my folks are buying the car in a month when my new e92 arrives and I promised to detail it for them. time to break out the clay bar and test my new flex (when it arrives , Honestly, my flex is taking forever and so is my car- both made in Germany. I think they like to torture the us here in U.S.)

I must admit- We did have one of the worst winters in a couple decades and I didn't spray it off as often as I used to. The wheels are especially bad. Here's a ? for your pro guys- is there an easier way to remove contaminants from the wheels than claying them? Can I use some sort of wheel polish or no because they are painted. I don't mind claying the car but the wheels are a bitch!

wow over a year? My car was clayed and detailed 1 1/2 months ago....and I'm already getting contaminant bumps on the rear bumper of the car. 1400 miles and weekly washes. There aren't alot....but there are a few.

How about other people?

My rear bumper and trunk area needs claying once a month. I sometimes don't get to wash it for 1-2 weeks so the buildup, along with rain, and a lot miles take its toll.

I need to start claying my car. I actually have never done it. an alpine white car shows everything. Im sick of the little rust specs and I honestly have no idea why it happens. Everyone always says its easy to maintain a white car. I disagree.

Light metallic colors are easy to maintain, as the emtallic washes out and overexposes the paint when light hits it, not letting swirls become too visible.
