N54 torque converter removal

Hi all.

Can someone please tell me how to remove the torque converter from the engine? Does it require a special tool?

Thanks

You have to pull the transmission out.

Are you talking about the flywheel?

I removed the engine toady and took the auto box off. And I can't remove the torque converter seems like it needs a special tool to get to the 13mm bolts that attach it to the ring gear/fly wheel whatever it's called on an auto! I need it off to put on my new engine.

Can you not remove them with a regular crescent wrench?

Found this pic, looks like they can be removed via the starter hole too:

Remove the spaces from the link above.

Removed the space but the Link won't load.

Through the starter hole is the only place I can see to do it. But there's no way of getting a normal spanner or socket in to get em. That's why I think it may require a special tool

Can someone answer this? It seems like the only way to get the 17mm bolts off the flex plate is through the starter hole.

Not through the starter. There is an obvious access hole on the passenger side of the oil pan. Remove the black plastic cover to get to the bolts. It's the big circle hole in the bottom of my picture.
