Stock for now but i'm supplementing my fueling with methanol. I'm considering doing some upgrading in the summer but time and money are the usual constraints here.

I'm glad you enjoyed the writeup!

What else could you do besides upgrade the lpfp? I'm planning on upgrading but steering away from meth.

There is nothing else you can do right now.

Thanks for this update on your setup. When my turbo's inevitably die I will most likely follow your path in upgrading. Sounds like a blast to drive!

That is good stuff, but man I struggle big time for traction and I am just fbo. Talking break free in 3rd gear pretty much at will. This is with 255 pss and a linear throttle mapping.

I don't know how you guys pushing 450+ whp manage to hook up at all.

Seem very coincidental that you updated this thread a couple hours after the slandering of Vargas turbos from another member lol.

Either way, that's great! Do you ever track the car? How does it perform vs. stock?

LOL, trust me on this one it's a coincidence. Oh well.
I've been pretty forthcoming about my Vargas experience in the past and present and I haven't pulled any punches. This is the raw review a year after hooking the car up.

YMMV, this is the internet. Take everything with a grain of salt. I'm not here to sell anyone on anything, especially if I have no real dog in the fight. People may have said otherwise, but I speak for nobody but myself when I say I had a good experience. Hopefully the fact that my STG 2 beta turbos have run for 16k miles so far without any hiccups is factored into others' decisions when considering VTT.

As for tracking: nah not really. Like I mentioned above I can get a purebred race vehicle with a few less wheels for the price of these turbos so that's the direction i've been steering in to get my track fix. Our cars have heating problems as it stands and unless I wanna get into ducting for the brakes, an aftermarket radiator, cooling the trans, etc. etc. this car isn't really much of a 'track rat'. Plus, this is my daily. I don't want to have to purchase a 6 puck clutch, lightened flywheel, bigger braking system, squeaky pads, expensive rubber, and all that jazz that is requisite for tracking the car. I have the same on my track bikes out of the box or attainable for under 500 bucks. Besides, I'd probably go spec Miata if I were serious about tracking. This car would murder me in a second if I was given carte blanche to push it through bends.

Vs. Stock: The car is in a different league. In a JB4 335 you're kinda weighing whether the car next to you will catch you or get slayed. In this car, it's not likely that anything is going to prevail when you put the foot down. It's vaguely comparable to a street bike in that aspect. Nothing but the really high dollar stuff can hang if you know how to drive it.

Yeah, first gear is useless hahah. You respect the car. I honestly treat it like I do a liter-bike. Full throttle doesn't happen anywhere under 35mph or so, if it does at all.

Thank you! Save your pennies if you're serious about it. These cars will need new turbochargers down the line anyways.

Thank you! I don't think you'll regret it. I am personally curious how the newer STG2's are. That GTX wheel looks like an evil commercial blender.

A more efficient or higher end meth kit, different controller, nitrous plus supplementary port fueling? I dono... my budget doesn't allow me to go too crazy.

Reading this makes me want to keep my car and also get a GT500. Then again I would rather be a BMW douche than a Mustang dick. Maybe I could one day be both.

Don't want to sound like a broken record. But there are way more trust worthy companies out there these days, such as Hexon and Pure, than VTT to spend your $2-4k. Dig a little more on the forums, and you will see why.

I have read horror stories from VTT and Hexon. I'm just looking for a solid replacement for my OEM's that will offer a little more HP and Reliability. I would like to go to Stage 2 but from what I've been reading every kit doesn't last more than a few months to a year.

Can you link the thread on Hexon failures. I have yet to see one yet, but as a prospective buyer, I would see what the problem was and how they handled it.

I think at the end of the day, any parts can fail. But what matters is how seller actually handle the issue. And VTT is very inconsistent regarding its customer support, to put it in a polite way.

When you hear less negative reviews about a company it isn't always a good thing, just means less people have used the product to find any negative aspects of said product.

I see new threads on hexon installs or logs almost every other day since they were introduced to the market early last year ... so they aren't exactly rare... granted, they haven't been around as long as RB and VTT, but both of those companies has some major quality control issues over the year or worse, straight up scams...

still curious to hear about the hexon failures that was mentioned and see how they handled it.

OP hasn't been active since April of 2015 -might be a while before they update.

The Stage 2's are very durable, lots of them out there with 20-60k miles.
