E90 Front speaker wiring resistances

Hi all,

New to the forum.

I have a question relating to the wiring for the front speakers on the E90. If i have it right, the front door speakers and the underseat subwoofers are wired in parallel.

Electronics was never my strong point, but if i understand the maths correctly that means that a head unit supplying say 50W of power will be delivering 25W to each speaker.

Would it be correct that if you bridged out the wiring for the underseat woofers then you would be delivering the full 50W power to just the door speakers?

I've upgraded to the Eonon GA9165A and put in both the Focal IBMW-S and SUBs butthey are still lacking in low end punch and power from the door speakers.

Rather than reamping both the subs and the door speakers, am i right in the resistance and power over a parallel configuration?

Cheers in advance!

If you started out with the base system no amplifier in the trunk
you are correct the front doors and floors are wired in parallel.

Thanks for all the info ctuna :-)

Yes it did start with the base system. I have already swapped both underseat 6 inch stock subs for the Focal IFBMW-SUBS, and removed the door cards and swapped the single door mids for the Focal IFBMW-S speaker and tweeter packs.

They are still using the stock wiring harness, but the HU has been replaced with the Eonon GA9165A.

From a technical perspective:

The HU outputs 45W to each of the 4 output channels (LF door and floor, RF door and floor, LR shelf and RR shelf). Because the fronts are in parallel they are sharing 1/2 of the output power to each branch of the wiring. If you were to remove the sub from the wiring connector and bridge it out so it effectively then becomes a parallel loop with doors being a 4 Ohm load and the Sub having no load - would the door speaker loop receive the full 45W HU output?

The parallel connection is made in the door sills on early models
or at the underseat speaker connection in later models.
Yes if you dissconnect the parallel connection more power goes
to the one you leave hooked up.
You might try running the doors on the front speakers and there under
seats on the rears channels. Best to get a 6 channel amp to run all the speakers and have control of the crossover between the doors and the
floors or at least a 4 channel to run the front door and floor speakers.
