A guide to using thumb drive in E90
Hello, I have read several threads and my problem is as follows:
I've had 6FL option installed, though my cable was just a simple usb cable, w/o the AUX, this is why I never got to see the BMW icon on my ipod, and my iPhone was not working with that. Days passed, and my iPod died, I decided to buy a thumb drive instead. So I did. But the thing is, I'm using a Mac and iTunes DB is where my music's at. I have tried copying the Music folder (with all Artists sorted by folders --> Albums) onto thumb drive, once plugged into USB port @ my car, it showed nothing but Directories, which is quite a pain in the ass to scroll through, and everytime you want to leave the dir and go to next one - you start with first dir in the list. Is there a solution for creating playlists (out of iTunes library mb?), and what suggestions you have to simpler browsing of thumb drive's contents? By the way, why none of the folders (Songs, Albums, Playlists) was available? Only Dir? I'd appreciate any help, thanks in advance! ![]() |

Is the problem that you are leaving the songs in Apple's proprietary (sp?) format? You probably need ot have them in MP3 format... if so, burn the iTune songs to a CD, then rip them back onto the ocmputer in MP3 format.
The other problem could be the thumb drive you have... I've seen other posts about certain hardware just not working. |

I did the same thing except with a PC (HP) and it works. Also, try using playlists (.M3U files). I find it makes it much easier since you can scroll through songs with similar style.
PS: Using Sandisk 2Gb USB drives
