Anyone know if Andy Divers is still on the go? I'm trying to locate the n54 oil cooler valve thermostat. He's none in stock. I emailed him about a year ago and he said he had something in the pipeline.. Email him since but no reply.

Sounds about right. I've never purchased anything from him but it always seems like he's got really well made stuff if and when you can get it.

He means the oil cooler thermostat. AD makes a great product but supply was always an issue for them.

Yeah the cooler thermostat would have been ideal for my needs... climate etc.. If I can't get a hold of 1 in the near future I'll get the BMS one... and see how the temp runs... I wasn't wanting to keep taking it in and out when the winter comes etc... and the AD one would have been ideal. But I'll try the BMS one and keep an eye on the temps, make sure it's not too low :-)

Last week while cruising at 80 +, 107 degrees out, the oil temp was 215. It occasionally gets as high as 235 in stop and go traffic. In the winter it rarely gets down to 20 F here in DFW, but the car does warm up, so swapping to stock for the winter is unnecessary. Per others here the AD is the sweet spot between stock and the one made by the JB4 peeps. I can't disagree.

Yeah that's ideal and exactly what I'm looking for.... Our temps In Scotland goes low as the same as urs... but no where near as high. Yep it is the sweet spot. Plus it helps with the MHD cooling option in the settings for to run the water pump slightly faster as well which is a brill idea. If I can't locate one in the next couple of weeks I'll try the BMS one. I'm actually surprised no other vendor has not jumped on the band wagon and made them....simple thing really .

On the oil filter housing? That thermostat? As far as I know there is only one available, from BMW. Everything else I have seen from the aftermarket world are thermostat delete products.

Yes. AD used to make an actual lower thermostat option but not anymore.

Opens at 90C. Pretty moot since it doesn't exist anymore.

Does anyone else reputable make the lower temp versions vs the bypass?

BMW thermostat is loaded with wax. How does this work. Do you know?

Just found out the AD one is for 2008 + models... Bummer... mines 07. I'll try the BMS one.... see if the temps keep up in winter. If not I'll just swap it in and out as required 🙂

Wax is essentially the controller. It thins as coolant temps increase and allows the thermostat to open. When the DME needs to control it, there are heating elements inside to melt it manually.

we are discussing oil termostat. I know how wax thermostat works. This oil thermostat in question has absolutely zero contact with coolant not is controled by DME in any way what so ever.
