Can 30FF be caused by wastegate?
I'm trying to wrap my head around this.
Can the 30FF code be caused by the wastegate? If so how? From my understanding the wastegate is meant to release boost pressure if it exceeds a certain amount. So in my 335 I believe its like 7lbs .... so if it goes over 7lbs it would open .. correct? I guess could 30FF be caused if it starts leaking air at like 5 PSI? |

Best way to tell if your waste gates are bad is to listen when you rev the car a little bit. If you hear a nasty rattling when the revs are dropping, you're waste gates are most likely bad.
You can try adjusting them, there's plenty of info on this site on how to do that. A permanent fix would require either replacing the turbos, or removing them and sending them out somewhere to get the waste gates rebuilt. The latter may be cheaper, but not by much. If you have it apart already, why not just get brand turbos with upgraded waste gates? To pay someone to replace your turbos, expect to pay north of $3,000, easily.

Just went through this, recently car started throwing a 30ff. Pulled off the dp and the amount of play in the wastegates were crazy. Pull your downpipes and check and see if theres any play. On mine where the flap seats you can see where it seated, and a spot where it didnt and seeped out, where the metal isnt shiny from contact point. Surprisingly only lost 1-2lb of boost during long pulls, for the amount of play. But thats my take on it, just see how bad the bushings are and if its ovaled out.

Did you go through the usual suspects first? Boost solenoids, boost leak, vacuum lines?
