FRM went bad, car is 2mo outside of extended warranty... how to deal with dealer/BMW?

Yesterday while running ISTA/D to prime my fuel pump after replacing my fuel filter, the FRM module failed. From what I've read in SI B01 20 16, this is not uncommon. My issue is that the extended 8yr/125k warranty begins at the inservice date of the vehicle, which for me was 6/4/10 (according to dealer). That means I'm 2 months outside of the 8yrs, and on the hook for god-only-knows how much.

Has anyone been able to successfully lobby BMW NA to cover something like this? From what I understand it's out of the dealer's hands, aside from putting in the claim and possibly appealing. Any tips/tricks are greatly appreciated!

I'd get it into a dealership asap and be nice because it's easier to help someone that asks nicely for help.

I can't find any SIBs, press releases, or other documentation to back this up. Can you share what you have please?
