Problems after Header/AA tune install
So....after my AA header install and AA retune my car 2011 E91 328i ran great. But after a week I developed a problem which seemed like the PCV valve (whistling sound, pressure/vacuum in crank case). Replaced valve cover still had problem. Replaced vacuum pump, still had problem.
Has anyone run into this or can chime in on other culprits? I’m thinking possible DISA valve in my 3SIM or a sensor issue. Did a smoke test and no leaks. This is getting very frustrating at this point and I’m considering putting stock components back on. Any money I’ve spent on modifications I’ve spent just as much to fix problems they caused. Any help is appreciated. |

how do you know the modification ( headers and tune) is the caused of the problem? why don't you take it to a proper shop to diagnose instead of waste money and time throwing parts at it?
you are not that far off from active autowerke , maybe it just worth taking your car there to get the problem fix instead of trying to removed all the mods and loose more money trying to sell them in the used market. For all you know you may find the issue while removing all the mods , or maybe you would still have the problem after removing everything for all who know , the person who did the installed may have forgotten to put something back , or secure something which is causing these issues I wouldn't throw more money on parts. If I live 3 hours away from active autowerke, I would just do the trip and let them figured out the problem , or take it to a proper BMW indy to have it fix... |

Headers install shouldn’t involve removing anything pcv or valve cover related, unless you have a n51... I saw on my buddies n51 that there’s an emissions thing that blocks the access to the header bolts.
I would not blame the headers for this. Did you try pulling codes with Carly or some other dedicated bmw reader? A smoke test showed no leaks. Are you confident in that? DISA failing is a high likelihood. Also maybe it’s a failing serpentine pulley or something between the airbox and the throttle body leaking. On my car intake leaks after the maf have thrown hidden lean codes before which don’t trigger my service engine light but I found them pulling codes with Carly. They never made a sound though...
