Exhaust Rattle
Just installed my new iPe exhaust that I purchased from _ink fits pretty much perfect on the N54 and sounds amazing. Only problem is the exhaust is hitting driveshaft and making a constant rattle sound. The exhaust only needs to be lowered about 5mm to get rid of this problem but I can't lower it anymore because it would then come into contact with the center stability plate (the one with 8 torx screws)! Any fix ideas? Should I "fix" the problem with some light hammer work? Any ideas would be helpful.

I think people were doing dodgy stuff like spacing out the V brace with washers to lower it enough for the exhaust to clear. Common issue for exhaust that have a single big pipe instead of dual.

Can you wedge some rubber inbetween? And fit it in place

Possible idea, only problem would be the exhaust moves up and down with bumps on the road and the rubber wedge may fall out. Or rubber wedge may get hot and melt causing that constant rubber burning smell!
But main problem is the drive shaft is spinning as the wheels spin, so a wedge would still hit the drive shaft |

Mine was installed with the spacers in between said brace.
I'm not sure what's so dodgy about that? Considering I'm pretty fussy with my car. |

Yea I might have to space it out, seems like the best fix to me! Otherwise absolutely in love with the exhaust. Just need to do the electronics so I'm not driving around with the valves constantly open! Hopefully they arent too complicated to install

The electronics is the most time consuming part of the process. With my current exhaust, I have double the amount of spacers that I needed to use on the iPE. |

So what exactly are you using the spacers on? On my car the exhaust is hitting the drive shaft. I unhooked one of the holders so the exhaust would hang lower but still hit and if I lower it anymore its going to start hit the middle stability plate thing (sorry dont know name). Yea going to give the electronics a go myself otherwise will head back over to Advan and have them install it.

I got up under there again (wanted to be done so bad) and tried to pry away the heatshielding and also lower the exhaust. How did you adjust the hangers, because I cannot get them to relax and let the exhaust hang lower... |
