I have one new OEM virgin key fob for sale. It comes with a blank emergency blade as well. I bought 2, but only ended up using one. It is virgin, so with a right tool, you can program it to your CAS and initialize with your car. You will need a key programmer to get it done. BMW dealer cannot program this key, look around for a Locksmith that works on BMW first, and it will cost around $100 to get it done. With a right tool, it'll probably be a few mins if you have a working key.

A normal replacement at the dealer will cost about $280-300 for the fob and the blade is another $70. So about $370, and that is if you can initialize it yourself. I've told that dealer charges another $180 to initialize and disable lost key. $170 vs $370

I can guide you in the right direction and how these keys work (all the details about these BMW keys, etc..), just PM me with questions. But I cannot add the key or reprogram it for you.

It is for 2004 - 2013 BMW 3 Series and 5 Series with Comfort access.

The Xhorse BMW Multi tool will code this key in about five minutes. I would buy it but you can only have two CA keys programmed to your car at the same time.

Out of curiosity, can a CA key work as a traditional key with a car that doesn't have CA?

Yes it can but it would be a waste of money. They make high quality aftermarket non CA keys for $18 shipped. I have yet to find a good aftermarket CA key.

I should have thought of that! At that price maybe I'll buy a spare!

Do you happen to know if 3rd parties can cut the insert also, assuming blank inserts are available aftermarket also?

You don't happen to have a link handy for aftermarket non-CA fob from a decent seller....?

The blade cut is hu92. search on ebay. there are a few that will cut it for you for a decent price.

They can cut it without needing the original or car?

How does that work?

What you do is sending them a picture of your key. They should be able to extract out the HU92 code. They will cut your key from there. All these keys have a code. BMW has them, so whenever you order a blade. They actually don't need your original key, they can just cut it at BMWNA in NJ and mail it to you!

An original key from BMW won t need any initializing. You just plug it in the slot and start the car. At that point the key syncs with the car and that s all you need to do. If you want to delete a lost key from the car and block it, that s different story and yes, for this you might need to get to the dealer or to someone with ISTA. To order a key from BMW , they only need the VIN and the proof that you are the legal owner pf the car.
