Discounts on top of european delivery MSRP?

I've come here to post this question as i'm a potential 1er customer and seeking e90 owner previous european delivery guidance.

I know that the car is still fresh and new and probably not going to be discounted for some time. I've visited 3 dealers so far, 2 of which we spoke about pricing. They tell me that if I put in an order for European Delivery, it would be based completely of MSRP pricing for European delivery. One dealer even told me that my pricing is not locked and MSRP could change if the car fell to a new model year by delivery. There are no discounts beyond that point, this is what is set by the manufacturer.

I find this hard to believe since European Delivery invoice pricing exists for the car so there is profit to be had by the dealer for all those willing to believe that BS. I want to purchase/order my car for early fall 2008 delivery in Munich and ideally they all tell me to place my order in by July. I on the other hand would also like to get a jump on itinerary planning for the trip by book my flights/hotels in advance and saving on the trip expenses as well.

So my question to you is, for all those who have purchased your e90s at European delivery pricing, did you pay below ED MSRP?

How long typically for a new BMW model is out before they start to make room in the pricing structure. I'm not looking to rip off the manufacturer, I just never pay MSRP for anything.

Go with a good CA and you'll get well below ED MSRP. I bought from Irv Robinson at MotorWerks BMW and he has standard pricing. A few grand under ED MSRP if i remember correctly.

Send out your Rizzo to your local dealers for $800-1000 over invoice:

http://www.e46fanatics.com/faq/rizzo.html

If that fails, check out one of the well known ED dealers in the BF ED Wiki:

http://www.bimmerfest.com/wiki/index...opean_Delivery

Irv is also mentioned in that list as he is a well respected CA.

bimmerfest has a dealer sponsor in NY who'll take care of you too since you're in NJ.

The best thing that you can do is run away from those dealers claiming no discount beyond ED MSRP.

FYI: New model years (Sept) are usually not available for ED until the end of Sept. to be safe, if the MY is an issue for you.

At this point, my wife just gave me the OK to pull the date back now to late August/Sept labor day weekend.

It would be nice to get a discount on a 1er for ED. I've already e-mailed Irv and another dealer in NJ. Which dealer in NY?

Funny story about Ricki Shamen - so I e-mailed her my config and options + $1k offer over ED invoice, I didn't hear back from her, her out of office reply said she would return e-mails in the afternoon.

I on the other hand, had a test drive appt already scheduled for last night at the same dealer. So what the hell, I go in anyway, and was greeted by my CA. I told her, lets forego the test drive, I know what I want, I have a spreadsheet with everything I want on it. I show it to her and she confirms the ED invoice pricing in her book. I told her I'll give $1k over that pricing for profit and we have a deal. She goes to her sales manager, gets approval in 10min comes back and we fill out the order form for a future June order to be placed for ED since I want delivery around Labor Day.

Meanwhile, I hear a woman nearby, I look over and I hear her say, "yes hi, this is Ricki Shamen from DiFeo BMW..." and I see her typing an e-mail. She send its from my point of view I can see what's on her screen. I have a blackberry so I know if she replied instantly. She did not. About 1 hour after I leave the dealer, she send me an e-mail finally saying, that the 1-series is not available for ED at this time and they are only selling them as US deliveries AT MSRP...it was a nice LOL moment on the drive home.

It is different when you are at the dealership and ready to sign vs. being another email in someone's in-box.

Glad to hear you are getting a 1er, and also ED! Good story, with what promises to be a happy ending.

I'm confused are you ordering a 1-series or 3-series.

If it's a 1-series then 1K over invoice is excellent considering they're coming out of dealer allocation at this time.
