most people say 60-70k. Mine failed at 65k. In contrast, my moms 2003 camry; her water pump failed at 298k, so she couldnt complain lol.

i'm glad they got rid of the garbage electric water pumps with the b58 motor.

Replace mine preventatively at 90k with an oem part which is not oe. The difference is the use of plastic on the oem, we'll see how long it lasts. I'll pony up for oe next time to avoid the plastic.

Just wanted to thank everyone for their replies! Just had the pump installed this week. Unfortunately with this being my only car and also being in the process of moving I did not have time this week to mess around with it myself. Labor for the flush and install tallied up to 471 with tax with parts from FCP at 375. Quite the unplanned for expense.

The general theme seems to be that the pumps go between 50 and 90k with 60 being a pretty decent interval to stick with if you're not looking to get stuck on the side of the road like I was. Maybe every second coolant change if you're sticking to the 2 year mantra? Either way after dealing with the failure I'd say being proactive with this repair is something everyone should do. Unless of course you have a second vehicle that allows you to replace it after it fails while still going to work and stuff, and don't mind the wait that seems to be standard with AAA roadside.

Pretty sure you're thinking of the thermostat housing; not the WP.

Either way, those comments still aren't entirely accurate.

WP failed at 68k. replaced only the WP. Now at 109k my fan is full on all the time with 2EF4 code. WP is fine. Deciding if i should only replace thermostat or also do WP....Low on money :/

Are you keeping the car longer than for another 10k Miles? If you're ok with paying $500 labor all over again in 10-25k miles for a part you'll be replacing anyways some day, then don't replace it now

My first water pump failed at 85k. I’m at 130k now and still on the second one.

You're right, tstat, replaced them at the same time.
